Steaming hay gets rid of dust, bacteria, fungi and mould and is particularly good for horses prone to a cough or respiratory issues.
Hay steamers can cost anything from £200 up to £2000 plus!
We made our own using a bin an adapter, a bit of silicone and a wallpaper steamer. Total cost approx £70.
Here’s how
Get a plastic bin
A wallpaper steamer we chose this one from Amazon
Drill a hole in the side of the bin approx 10mm
Take off the wallpaper part and attach the hose through the hole (you should be able to use the parts that came with the steamer).
Put silicone around both sides of the inlet.
Fill with water plug in and steam away!
